Radio Bumping: Like Fist-Bumping, but for Points

One of the things I like is the friendly little comment subscribers often leave each other, just to say, "Here's a radio-bump! I listened to ________ and really liked it!"

If I understand it correctly, when someone clicks your radio and listens for a bit, your radio counter (displayed in your profile) advances one and gets you closer to unlocking levels in "Disc Jockey." People often leave the comment so you know you got some love. I like that.

How do you feel about the commenting aspect of it? Are you leaving a comment in order to be friendly, or are you really leaving a comment so your buddy returns the favor and bumps you back? Is it annoying to get "rb 7 --> 8" comments on your wall? Or is it sweet?

I've been hitting my rack maximum earlier in the day lately, so I'm trying to spend a bit of time radio-bumping people who've listed me as a referrer, or who are subscribing to me. SHOULD I leave an RB comment?

Wow. I haven't been paying attention at all to the radio aspect. I listened to your radio during lunch and your radio count went from 7 to 9. I guess you need 25 for the first level of "Disc Jockey."

The commenting aspect is interesting (now that I know what "RB#{x}->#{y}" means!). it does seem as much a way to give kudos as it is to encourage reciprocal radio listening. Since I expect I will like a lot of the music my friends like, I wouldn't mind listening anyway... so why not be reminded about where I can go to pay it forward (or is it pay it back?).

Just like the "Wall" on Facebook, I'm reluctant to leave comments simply because I feel like I'm cluttering someone else's page. But I guess if it's the social norm and courtesy to do it, I should get into it!

Dumb question: What does the "RB" comment mean? Recently bumped?, Recommend bump? radio bump? None of the above? :)

Kalei, RB means "radio bump." When someone leaves you a note like that, it means he or she listened to your radio long enough to increase your listening count by one. The person usually says what the song was, too.
